Our Mission
Telling stories through song is what inhabitants of Aotearoa have done as long as we have been here. Our native songbird, the tūī, can repeat almost any sound. We are committed to continue to tell our stories through song.
TMTT commissions original New Zealand musical theatre by selecting Kiwi stories and pairing them with creators such as book writers, lyricists and composers whilst guiding them through the developmental process and introducing creatives at the appropriate times in each project’s development.
We regularly seek submissions of existing musicals in development from the public to ensure new writers and artists are discovered, supported and fostered for the future of the art form in New Zealand.
We are also radically committed to diversity and equality, selecting projects that will reflect diversity in Aotearoa.
We produce professional developmental readings, workshops and presentations for industry professionals and the public, as well as helping them secure commercial and regional producers for productions.
